Beside the Danum River inside the Conservation Area, 11 kilometres from the Field Centre and reachable only by permitted 4WD — Borneo Rainforest Lodge was the area's first dedicated hospitality site when it opened in 1994, and has since become one of the most decorated eco-resorts in Southeast Asia. Guest numbers are capped at around 60 a night to keep pressure on the surrounding primary forest low, and everything runs full-board with small guided groups. A 360-metre canopy walkway reaching 27 metres up puts you level with hornbills and gibbons rather than craning from the forest floor, and the wider programme takes in river tubing, a pre-dawn Bukit Atur sunrise trek, and Coffin Cliff, an old Orang Sungai burial site cut into the rock above the river.
30 units in total — Jungle, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe Chalets plus Premium Villas with private plunge pools — sleeping up to 60 guests; standard chalets use ceiling fans, with air-conditioning and a minibar reserved for the Premium tiers.
