Tanjung Datu

Coastal rainforest / marine park

One of Sarawak's smallest and most remote national parks, tucked into the far western tip of the state near the Kalimantan border, where rainforest runs down to sand beaches and fringing reef. Access is by a short boat ride from the village of Telok Melano — a new road from Sematan to Telok Melano opened in 2018 and made the trip easier, though the final leg into the park is still by water and the sea is often too rough to cross during the November–February monsoon. Low visitor numbers and no direct road access have kept both the forest and the surrounding marine park in good condition, and green turtles nest on the park's beaches from April to September.

Best for: remote coastal rainforest, fringing reef, green turtle nesting (Apr–Sep), boat-only access
Mammals: Southern Pig-tailed Macaque, Long-tailed Macaque, Silvered Langur, Bornean Bearded Pig
Birds: Rhinoceros Hornbill
Turtles & Crocs: Green Turtle
Other: Bornean Gibbon
