A forest turtle with an unusually flattened, broad shell compared to most Bornean freshwater turtles, and a more strongly vegetarian diet, feeding heavily on fallen fruit and fungi alongside invertebrates.
Unusually for a turtle, females do not dig a nest chamber — eggs are simply deposited on the forest floor and covered loosely with leaf litter. Found on the forest floor near streams, generally more terrestrial in habit than many of Borneo's other freshwater turtles.
