Wildlife

A community-run eco camp on the Kinabatangan River, and the only camp on its oxbow lake — so when you stay, you have the whole oxbow to yourselves, well away from any village and from the boat traffic of the busier lodge stretches. Local jungle people run it, and listings describe it as engaged in forest rehabilitation and community projects. The usual package is two days and one night or three days and two nights, with river cruises, night walks and meals included. Visitors report darters, monitor lizards and egrets, and the river holds crocodiles, so swimming is not allowed.
Basic wooden shelters with mattresses — reviewers call it simple but clean and comfortable. Mobile signal is weak.
