Wildlife
An orangutan rehabilitation centre 24km from Kuching, where semi-wild orangutans released back into the surrounding forest still return to a feeding platform on a semi-predictable schedule (April to November gives the best odds, since fruiting forest in the wetter months can keep them away) — the closest thing in Borneo to a guaranteed orangutan sighting without days of trekking. Some of the animals here are second-generation, born wild in the surrounding forest to mothers who were themselves rehabilitated, a small but real conservation success story visible in a single visit.
No on-site or nearby lodging — this is a half-day trip, with visitors based around 24km away in Kuching.
