Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort

Luxury wetland resort

One of the most luxurious lodges on the river, set deep in the Lower Kinabatangan wetlands within the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary and deliberately tucked away from the cluster of lodges along the main river. The surroundings are mangrove and nipah palm, and the chalets, dining room and library are linked by raised walkways, so you can watch the forest between outings. Activities are mostly boat trips out looking for wildlife, with orangutans, macaques, pygmy elephants and Rhinoceros Hornbills among the animals listed for the area.

Best for: Luxury wetland setting, raised walkways, mangrove and nipah forest
Mammals: Bornean Orangutan, Proboscis Monkey, Bornean Elephant, Otter Civet, Southern Pig-tailed Macaque, Silvered Langur
Birds: Oriental Bay-Owl, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Storm's Stork
Turtles & Crocs: Saltwater Crocodile
