A remarkably camouflaged tree frog with irregular, spiny, warty skin that closely mimics moss- and lichen-covered bark — among the most cryptic frogs in Bornean forest, genus Theloderma. The species name 'horridum' references its rough, bristling skin texture rather than any danger to people.
Nocturnal and arboreal, often found near tree holes and streams, relying almost entirely on camouflage to avoid predators rather than fleeing; easily missed even when perched in plain sight.
