A small rock frog in the genus Staurois, smaller than the well-known rock skipper frog, sharing the genus's striking foot-flagging visual signalling behaviour used to communicate over the noise of fast water.
Found on wet rocks directly beside waterfalls and cascades, an extreme torrent specialist; its smaller size compared to related Staurois is a useful field clue.
