An agile, strongly arboreal monitor lizard with rough, keeled scales on the neck, found in forest, climbing trees with confidence unusual for the generally more terrestrial or aquatic monitor family.
An active hunter of birds, eggs, small mammals and large invertebrates, at home high in the canopy as well as on the ground, and a fast, capable climber when pursued.
