A tiny, flattened bat specialised for roosting inside the narrow internal cavity of a single bamboo internode, entering through the slit left by an insect's exit hole — a habit shared by the genus Tylonycteris and reflected in the flattened shape of its skull and body.
Nocturnal and insectivorous, foraging for small flying insects around bamboo stands, forest edge and riverine vegetation, and rarely encountered far from the bamboo clumps it depends on for roosting.
