A neat thrush, males blackish above with an orange breast band and flanks, females duller brown with spotted underparts, foraging in shaded cover.
Classed as a rare/accidental visitor to Borneo, well south of its usual East Asian wintering grounds, occasionally turning up in forest and forest-edge habitat.
