A large, shaggy-crested tern with a heavy yellow bill, one of the more regularly encountered terns along Bornean coasts and reefs throughout the year.
Plunge-dives from height for fish, often hunting in loose association with other terns and seabirds, and breeds colonially on remote sandy or rocky islets.
