Adult males occur in both chestnut and rare white morphs, both with a glossy black crest and head and extravagant elongated tail streamers, while females are shorter-tailed and chestnut-backed.
An elegant forest bird that hawks insects with graceful, fluttering sallies, occurring in Borneo mainly as a scarce winter visitor from its breeding grounds further north and west.
