A tiny, dumpy quail, males with a slate-blue breast and chestnut belly, females more cryptically barred brown, both preferring to run through cover rather than fly.
Found locally in open grassy and cultivated habitats across Borneo's lowlands, usually flushed only at close range before dropping back into dense grass.
