Bornean Bearded Pig

A large, distinctive wild pig named for the coarse whisker-like bristles running along its jawline, with a long snout, sparse body hair and prominent facial warts on mature males. One of the most important prey species for Sabah's clouded leopards.

Known for large-scale nomadic movements tracking mast-fruiting events (the irregular, synchronised fruiting of dipterocarp trees), sometimes covering long distances in loose aggregations when fruit is abundant. Otherwise generally solitary or in small groups, foraging on fallen fruit, roots and invertebrates.
