Rock Skipper Frog

A Bornean rock frog best known for an unusual visual communication behaviour called 'foot-flagging' — waving a brightly marked hind foot to signal to rivals and potential mates, an adaptation thought to overcome the constant loud noise of the waterfalls it lives beside, where acoustic calls alone would be hard to hear.

Found on wet rocks directly beside waterfalls and fast cascades, an extreme torrent specialist even by the standards of Borneo's many stream-associated frogs.
