A large sheath-tailed bat named for a glandular throat pouch, used by males to store scent secretions for courtship display, and for sparsely furred lower-back skin.
A strong, fast flier, hunting insects well above the canopy at dusk. Roosts colonially in caves, hollow trees and sometimes buildings.
