Wreathed Hornbill

A large hornbill with a ridged casque and, in males, a bright yellow throat pouch that inflates during calling, versus a blue throat pouch in females — a useful way to sex birds at a distance.

Feeds mainly on fruit, undertaking local movements in response to fruiting patterns, sometimes gathering in larger flocks at abundant fruiting trees than most other hornbill species.
