Sunda Giant Squirrel

The largest tree squirrel in Sabah, with a long, bushy tail and a coat that varies regionally from blackish to brown above with a paler underside. Moves confidently through the upper canopy of tall forest.

Diurnal, feeding on fruit, seeds and bark, and generally solitary. Its size and bold movement through high branches make it one of the more conspicuous squirrels on a forest walk, even without binoculars.
