The large, robust 'brown rat' or 'sewer rat' familiar worldwide, introduced to Borneo through shipping and most strongly associated with ports, towns and drains rather than forest habitat.
Nocturnal and highly adaptable, exploiting almost any available food source around human settlement. Essentially a species of the built environment rather than one visitors will encounter on a wildlife trip.
