Horsfield's Parachute Gecko

A remarkable gecko with extensive skin flaps along the body, limbs and tail forming a 'parachute' used to glide and control descent when leaping from tree trunks — a similar adaptation in principle to Borneo's flying lizards and flying frogs, evolved independently.

Nocturnal, hunting invertebrates on large tree trunks, and relying on its flattened, fringed silhouette pressed against bark for camouflage by day.
