A slender long-tailed parakeet, males showing a rosy-pink breast and black chin stripe, listed as Near-threatened owing to heavy trapping for the pet trade across much of its range.

Feeds on fruit, seeds and cultivated grain in noisy flocks, often raiding orchards and croplands, and roosts communally at dusk in large, vocal gatherings.
