Red-crowned Barbet

A colourful barbet with a red crown, blue face and green body, found in lowland forest, where it forages for fruit in the mid-to-upper canopy.

Excavates a nest cavity in a dead tree or branch, and gives a repetitive, mechanical call typical of barbets — often the first clue to its presence in dense canopy foliage.
