A stocky green barbet with a bare orange-yellow eye-patch and a heavy pale bill, endemic to Borneo where it replaces lowland barbets in cool montane forest.
Feeds mainly on fruit and berries in the forest canopy, supplemented with insects, and its far-carrying, monotonous call is a familiar sound of Borneo's highland forests such as Kinabalu and Crocker Range.
