A near-threatened Sundaic endemic, greyish-olive above with a long graduated tail and a pale wingbar, favouring scrub, gardens and mangrove edges.
Once common but declining sharply due to trapping for the cagebird trade, it forages actively low in vegetation, flicking its tail as it moves.
