Red Leaf Monkey (Maroon Langur)

A striking, deep chestnut-to-maroon leaf monkey found in lowland and hill dipterocarp forest across Borneo. Unlike the silvered langur, it tends to keep to denser, less disturbed forest interior and is less commonly seen along open riverbanks.

Lives in small troops with a folivorous diet dominated by young leaves, shoots and some fruit. Its loud, harsh alarm calls are often the first sign of a troop's presence before any animal is actually spotted in the canopy.
