A neat crake with a bold white eyebrow stripe over an olive-brown face, walking confidently across floating vegetation on ponds and marshes with long, splayed toes.
More visible than many crakes, it often feeds in the open at the edges of lily-covered pools, picking insects and seeds from the water's surface.
