A rare and accidental visitor to Borneo, this weaver is normally a bird of reed beds, marshes and paddy fields, breeding males developing a bright yellow crown and black face mask.
Colonial and vocal, it builds retort-shaped woven nests suspended over water; in Borneo it is recorded only sporadically, likely as an occasional wanderer or escaped cage bird.
