A slender, dark ibis appearing glossy chestnut and iridescent green-bronze in good light, with a long, evenly downcurved bill used to probe soft mud.
One of the most widely distributed ibises in the world, but only an occasional visitor to Borneo, turning up singly on marshes and flooded fields.
