A green-bodied pitta with a black hood, chestnut nape and turquoise wing patch, one of the more widespread pittas across South and Southeast Asia through to Australasia.
Forages on the forest floor for insects and worms, hopping through leaf litter, and its rolling whistled call is a familiar sound of lowland and hill forest at dawn and dusk.
