A brightly coloured long-distance migrant pitta, green above with a chestnut crown, blue wing patch and pale underparts, breeding in East Asia and passing through Southeast Asia on migration.
Feeds on invertebrates picked from leaf litter, and is classed as globally Vulnerable owing to habitat loss on both its breeding grounds and its wintering range, making any Bornean record notable.
