Bornean Pithecheirops

An extremely poorly known Bornean-endemic rodent and the sole member of its genus, with broadened, grasping hind feet suited to climbing that give it its scientific name (echoing 'monkey-footed'). Known from only a small number of historical specimens.

Presumed nocturnal and arboreal, feeding on fruit and seeds, but almost nothing has been directly observed of its behaviour or ecology in the wild. Any confirmed modern record would be scientifically significant.
