A little-known arboreal rat, named for the mammalogist Louise Emmons, and now recognised as a distinct Bornean species separated from the closely related Sunda tree rat of Java and Sumatra.
Presumed nocturnal and arboreal, with a semi-prehensile tail suited to climbing fine branches, broadly similar in habits to other forest-dwelling murid rodents. Almost nothing has been published on its specific ecology in the wild.
