A large flying squirrel marked with pale spots on a darker coat, among the bigger gliding mammals recorded in Sabah, capable of long controlled glides between tall emergent trees.
Strictly nocturnal, resting in tree cavities by day and gliding out at dusk to feed on leaves and fruit. Best detected by spotlighting forest edges and watching for a glide silhouette against the sky.
