A small minivet of lowland and hill forest, males glowing scarlet-orange below with a black head and back, females showing yellow underparts, usually seen in active mixed-species flocks moving through the canopy.
Feeds mainly on small insects gleaned from foliage and outer branches, and is considered Near-threatened owing to ongoing loss of the lowland forest it depends on across Borneo and Sundaland.
