An entirely black oriole endemic to Borneo's mountains, quiet and unobtrusive compared to its more colourful relatives, and detected more often by its rich, fluty call than by sight.
Feeds on fruit and insects in the mid- and upper storey of montane forest, and remains a prized sighting for birders visiting Borneo's highland ranges such as Kinabalu.
