A legless lizard easily mistaken for a snake at a glance, but distinguished by movable eyelids, external ear openings and a tail that can be shed and partially regrown when grabbed by a predator — none of which snakes have.
Found in leaf litter on the forest floor, feeding on invertebrates, and generally moves with a stiffer, less fluid motion than a true snake given its different skeletal structure.
