A slim, long-winged chat with a distinctive white rump and black-and-white tail pattern visible in flight, non-breeding birds sandy-brown above with buffy underparts.
An extreme long-distance migrant and a rare and accidental vagrant to Borneo, typically wintering in Africa or South Asia and appearing here well outside its normal range on open, bare ground.
