A small, compact forest eagle with a short crest, found in lowland and hill dipterocarp forest across Sundaland, named after the naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace.
Hunts birds and small mammals within the forest canopy, and is generally more often detected by its high, whistled call given from a perch or in flight than by a clear view.
