A 'fishing bat' with unusually large, strong feet and claws used to trawl the water surface for prey, one of a small number of Myotis species that regularly takes small fish alongside aquatic insects.
Forages low and fast over rivers, streams and still pools at night, raking the water surface with its feet, and roosts by day in caves, hollow trees or under bridges near its foraging waterways.
