A plain grey-brown flycatcher with heavy dark streaking on the breast and flanks and a long primary projection, superficially similar to other Muscicapa flycatchers.
A winter visitor and passage migrant to Borneo from its breeding range in northeast Asia, typically seen perching upright on exposed branches to sally after flying insects.
