A streaky, ground-dwelling lark of open grassy country, previously lumped with the widespread Australasian bushlark and occurring locally in suitable open habitat in Borneo.
Forages on bare or sparsely vegetated ground for seeds and insects, and delivers a distinctive song during rising display flights over its breeding territory.
