One of the world's smallest raptors, a sparrow-sized falcon with a black cap, white underparts and black thighs, often seen perched conspicuously on dead branches or wires at forest edge.
Hunts dragonflies, cicadas and other large insects with quick sallying flights from an exposed perch, occasionally taking small birds, and is a widespread resident across Bornean lowlands.
