A remarkable small frog known for calling from inside water-filled tree holes and bamboo internodes, using the cavity as a resonating chamber. Males have even been recorded adjusting their call pitch to match the acoustic properties of the particular hole they occupy — a rare example of tool-like use of the environment in a frog.
Breeds and lays eggs inside the same tree-hole cavities it calls from, an unusual strategy compared to most frogs that rely on open pools or streams.
