A frog specialised for life in fast, turbulent hill streams; its tadpoles have a large sucker-like oral disc used to cling to rocks in strong currents, one of several remarkable torrent-tadpole adaptations found in Bornean streams.

Adults are found on rocks and boulders within or beside fast-flowing water, feeding on invertebrates, and are well camouflaged against wet stone.
