Bornean Horned Frog

One of the most striking and sought-after amphibians in Borneo, with a pointed, leaf-shaped snout and horn-like projections above each eye that give exceptional camouflage among dead leaves on the forest floor. A very large mouth suits its ambush hunting style.

Sits motionless in leaf litter near streams, sometimes for hours, striking suddenly at passing invertebrates and even small vertebrates. Most reliably found at night by torchlight along quiet forest streams, where it is often located by careful scanning of the leaf litter rather than by its call.
