A montane horned frog with rough, warty skin and the pointed, horn-like projections above the eyes typical of the genus, found in hill and lower montane forest streams.
Sits motionless on the forest floor or in shallow streams, relying on leaf-litter camouflage to ambush passing invertebrates, and is generally scarcer and less frequently recorded than the lowland Bornean horned frog.
