A large, colourful marten with a bright yellow throat and chest contrasting against a dark head and limbs. Diurnal, unusually for a mid-sized carnivore in Bornean forest, and often seen moving in pairs or small groups.
An opportunistic and notably bold predator, taking fruit, nectar, invertebrates, birds, eggs and small mammals, and known to cooperatively harass larger prey. Sightings tend to be quick, fast-moving glimpses along forest trails and roads. Least Concern (IUCN) — the most secure conservation status of any small carnivore on this page, reflecting its wide range and habitat tolerance.
