A dark, falcon-like raptor with long, pointed wings and large eyes, specialised for hunting bats and swiftlets at dusk in fast, agile flight — one of the few raptors active primarily at twilight.
Often seen hawking over cave entrances or forest clearings around sunset, timed to intercept emerging bat colonies, swallowing prey whole in flight.
