Bornean Crested Fireback

A large, glossy pheasant with a bushy black crest, a bare blue facial patch, and — in males — chestnut, blue-black and white plumage that flashes brightly in dappled forest light.

Forages on the ground in small groups through lowland forest leaf litter for fallen fruit, seeds and invertebrates, generally shy and quick to move off through undergrowth if disturbed.
